The information on this page is to help better serve our stewards in their roles at the workplace. We need to hear from our stewards! If there is any information that you would like to see here, please contact Steward Coordinator Loyola Welsh at (860) 343-8721 or lwelsh@ceui.org.
The job of a steward is the most challenging, most rewarding and most important job in our union. That's because of you - you are on the front lines to fight to protect our members' rights and bring fair and decent treatment to the workplace.
The steward is the one union person our members see everyday when they go to work. A steward carries out a number of roles:
Leader |
Organizer |
Communicator |
Representative |
Educator |
Problem Solver |
By performing these steward tasks, you will gain the confidence and respect of your co-workers and management. Your union will be stronger and better able to protect workers' rights and fight for improvements in wages, hours, working conditions and quality of life on the job.
