CDL Grant to End August 30th, 2002
AA decision was made at the June 12 Placement & Training (P&T)
Committee meeting to not approve another Class A & B CDL Grant.
The labor representatives (including Union President Steven Perruccio)
chose to save the remaining money to pay health/dental insurance
premiums for any state worker who is laid off. This is a clear indication
of what to expect if Governor Rowland is re-elected in November.
The 1995 State Employee Bargaining Agent Coalition (SEBAC) agreement
with the State provides money for training and up to six (6) months
(state share) of health/dental insurance coverage to anyone laid
off.
The present grant expires on August 30th, and every
attempt will be made to get as many participants through in the
financial and time restraints.
